1. Development and characterization of new solvents for biopolymer (lignin, fibroin, cellulose, chitin, etc) dissolution and regeneration;
2. Aggregation properties of surfactants and polymers in equilibrium and non-equilibrium conditions;
3. Complex fluids and shear induced multilamellar vesicles;
4. Rheology of polysaccharide liquid crystals;
5. Development of physical and chemical polysaccharide-based hydrogels for probiotic encapsulation;
6. Synthesis and characterization of nanocrystalline cellulose-based biocomposites;
7. Host-guest interaction in cyclodextrin doped systems.
Scientific and professional activities
Since 2015: Assistant Researcher (窶廬nvestigador FCT窶) at University of Algarve (UAlg);
2012-2014: Postdoctoral fellow at the Plant Biotechnology Lab. (窶廚ellulose dissolution and regeneration窶) at the University of Algarve (Prof. Anabela Romano).
2010-2011: Postdoctoral fellow at the University of Coimbra financed by an international consortium focused on the development of cellulose-based textile fibers.
2006-2011: Invited guest researcher for short stays at the University of Paderborn, Germany (Prof. Claudia Schmidt) and Wellington University, New Zealand (Prof Paul Callaghan and Prof. Petrik Galvosas).
2005-2009: PhD in Macromolecular Chemistry (窶彜hear induced transformations in Complex fluids窶) at the University of Coimbra (supervisor Prof. Maria Graﾃｧa Miguel.
